Signs My European Automobile’s Engine Needs to Be Replaced

Maybe you drive the Mercedes-Benz of your dreams. Perhaps you drive a classic Porsche. No matter what make your European automobile is, we can replace the engine when it’s time to have this done. Unfortunately, there will come a point when the engine can no longer be repaired and needs to be replaced. In some cases, the engine may be restored through a partial rebuild.

Constant Overheating

For example, if your European automobile is overheating every time that you drive it, it’s possible that we may need to replace the cooling system. In some cases, swapping out the radiator for a new one can resolve the problem. In other cases, the entire cooling system may need to be replaced. The European beauty will also overheat all the time if you have a cracked engine block or head gasket.

Constant Knocking

Knocking noises every time that you drive your European automobile are also an indication that you’ve got a serious problem in the engine. The knocking noise that you hear is being caused by the pistons knocking against the inside of the cylinders. This happens when the rod bearings wear out and the rods can no longer move the pistons up and down evenly. Consequently, this can damage the cylinder block.

A Ton of Exhaust

Your European automobile may also develop a serious fluid leak. Any time the engine burns away a ton of automotive fluid, you will see a ton of exhaust flowing out of the tailpipe. If the exhaust is black, you’ve got a fuel leak in the engine that needs to be addressed right away. If the exhaust is blue, the engine is hemorrhaging motor oil. A coolant hemorrhage will create white exhaust.

Metal in the Oil

The engine will need to be replaced if there are silver flakes in the motor oil. This is a sign that the engine is disintegrating into the oil as it circulates through the engine. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do to repair this. The engine is so old that the metal is dissolving. In this case, we will have to replace the engine.

We will also have to replace the engine if your European automobile is no longer generating power. There comes a point when the engine cannot generate enough power for the vehicle to run properly and there is nothing that we can do to repair it. This just means that the engine is at the end of its life.
